Course Description

Following is a brief description of topics covered in SMC® training.

Introduction: This chapter describes the purpose and framework of the SBOK® Guide.

Overview of Agile: This chapter provides an overview of Agile which includes Agile Manifesto; Agile Principles; What has Changed with Agile; Declaration of Interdependence; and Agile Methods—Lean Kanban, Extreme Programming, Crystal Methods, Dynamic Systems Development Method, Feature Driven Development, Test Driven Development, Adaptive Software Development, Agile Unified Process, and Domain Driven Development.

Domain of Agile Practices: This chapter talks about Value-driven Delivery; Stakeholder Engagement; Team Performance Practices; Adaptive Planning; Problem Detection and Resolution; Continuous Improvement; and Agile Tools and Artifacts.

Lean Kanban: This chapter deals with Lean Kanban and includes topics such as Introduction to Lean Kanban Software Development; Core Values; Understanding Lean Software Development; Understanding Kanban; Definition of Lean Kanban; and Implementing Lean Kanban.

Scrum:This chapter provides an introduction to the key concepts of Scrum. It contains a summary of Scrum principles, aspects, and processes.

Extreme Programming (XP): This chapter includes sections related to XP such as Introduction to XP; Core Values; Roles; Practices; XP Release; XP Artifacts; Adopting XP; and XP Events.

Test Driven Development (TDD): This chapter provides an introduction to TDD and discusses the process associated with it.

Dynamic Systems Development Method (DSDM): This chapter talks about topics such as Introduction to DSDM, Core Values, and Practices.

Crystal Methods: This chapter details topics such as Introduction to Crystal, Core Values, Roles, Practices, and Process.

Feature Driven Development (FDD): This chapter includes topics such as Introduction to FDD, Core Values, Roles, Practices, and Process.

Comparison of Agile Methods: This chapter captures all the Agile methodologies in a snapshot.

Best Fit Analysis Tool: This tool can be used by organizations considering transitioning to an Agile methodology. It is a short questionnaire designed to find the methodology which best fits an organization’s specific business situation.

Blitz Planning: It is a variation of the “Planning Game” from XP.

After the class, participants will receive a web address for an online, unproctored SAMC™ examination. The exam can be taken at the time and place of the participant’s choosing. The exam contains one hundred multiple choice questions, and students have two hours to complete it. Passing the examination is the last step in becoming SCRUMstudy Agile Master Certified. Assistance for accessing the exam is available through the helpful SCRUMstudy™ support team. Immediately after completing the examination, students will be informed of their results. Successful candidates are awarded the ‘SCRUMstudy Agile Master Certified’ (SAMC™) certification from SCRUMstudy™. They will receive a soft copy of the certificate by email, and a physical copy of the certificate by mail.
